NBC organised Greater Mumbai Interschool Extempore Speech Competition on 16th February 2020 (Sunday) starting 10.00 am based on a wide range of topics. The main initiative was taken and successfully executed by the Ladies' Wing of NBC.
It was confined to participation of students from different schools of Std.7 & 8 only. Venue was Hiranandani Meadows Club house, Thane (W). Hon'ble judges for this event were Mrs. Dipika Das, Principal, Oxford International School, Kandivali (E), Mrs. Anindita Kar, Curriculum Developer and Faculty Incharge of the IBDP, Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, Thane; and, Mrs. Ganga Nair, Communication Skill Developer and lecturer at various schools in India and abroad (Indonesia).
The event started with traditional lamp lighting by senior members of the club followed by Saraswati vandana chanted by Mrs Mou Dutta.
Anchor Mrs Sachi Chatterjee introduced the judeges to the audience aptly and initiated the event with other details.
The enthusiasm of the students was praiseworthy and each of them spoke wonderfully on the topics picked up by them. Sincere thanks to the parents and teachers who motivated their children to participate inspite of the approaching exams.
The 3 judges sat together for a while to decide on the winners based on the five distinct parameters including time factor. While announcing the winners, the judges, individually, addressed the students and highlighted broadly the improvement areas for future attempts.
Each of the Winners and Runners up were honoured with a Sash, Cup, Chocolate and participation Certificate besides Gift coupons. The gift coupons of Rs.1000, 750 & 500/- each for the rank holders of both the groups were sponsored by M/s Jyoti - The School Mall, G B Rd, Thane. Rest all other received chocolates along with participation certificates. Further, all the participants were provided with a snacks box.
At the end, Mrs Mou Dutta called club Prez. Mr Abhijit Chatterjee to address the audience. Mr Chatterjee in his speech mentioned about NBC’s past initiatives on arranging such competitions and also assured that NBC would continue to organise such events in future. He also thanked the School Authorities for supporting NBC and sending their students for participating in different competitions.
After proposing the vote of thanks, to the participants, parents, Judges and school authorities Mrs. Mou Dutta concluded the event.
