It is said that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. From time immemorial, the world has benefitted from masters of this art. NBC has always provided us with such opportunities for infotainment and enrichment. And the beauty session on Friday, the tenth of June, 2011, was no exception at all.
It all started at sharp 4.30p.m., with our president, Ms Bulbul Sengupta, giving an address of welcome to our honoured guest. Dr. Sunetra Vijay Bhadrike is a trained beautician who is also a practicing homeopath. Her tutelage was under Dr. Paranjape, a renowned beautician and an instructor, of Butic Institute. Over a period of time, she has slowly made an in-road in the world of beauty. Keeping up with the modern times, she has attended several workshops in make-up, hair-style and skin-care. She is currently doing her cosmetology training and employed as an in-house medical adviser.
Dr. Bhadrike started off with a short lecture on skin-types, their problems, hair and scalp problems(don’t we face them all?). But, we gathered all is not lost yet from her words. Members were happy for a solution (Guess we will see a lot of flawless and glamorous skin during the Pujas). But the best was yet to come. There was a complimentary make-up session for willing participants.
And the first to look gorgeous was Satokshi Dey, daughter of Sudeshna Dey. Soon, her mom followed in her foot-steps. A deft flick of brushes and colours and Sudeshna gave our very own dusky beauty, Bipasha Basu, a run for her money(Just continue wearing your heels, Sudeshna). Two senior members were not lagging behind. Our eyes goggled at the transformed yet matured and alluring beauties of Sumitradi and Maladi. Must say, our guest appreciated and applauded the enthusiasm of our senior participants. There was also a very lively interactive session, where queries were answered and various suggestions duly noted.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks from our president and the presentation of a bouquet and a small memento to our guest. Needless to say, we learnt a lot. Though it was dull, gray and wet outside, our club aglow with all the colors of a rainbow. Our guest was also touched with love and friendliness, which are a few among many attributes of NBC. We look forward to such programmes where love and knowledge transcends all bar.
