For jobless migrant labourers, now stranded with despair & sorrow, contracting coronavirus is not a bigger threat than to somehow live the daily life.
Though under lockdown situation, reaching these needy people and carrying the items for their survivals remain a problem, our two ladies' wing members, Nibedita Gupta & Bhaswati Nag, with the help of Mrs Joyeeta Chatterjee, a consultant of TMC school in Thane and also Mr Sanjay Raut of Gaimukh, the eminent social welfare guardian of those areas, went to Kharegaon TMC School on 28.05.2020.
Our representatives distributed adequate Rice, Atta, Dal, Poha, Sugar, Salt, Edible oil, Haldi Powder, Mirchi Powder, etc. in a plastic gunny sack to each of 20 migrant worker families (covering 75-80 heads) who live in the vicinity of Kharegaon Pipeline and are badly affected.
Needless to say, their faces beaming with joy & happiness while receiving the items, spoke a lot.
A special thanks to our member Mrs Bhaswati Nag, whose personal connection & initiative made it possible, as special permissions were required from authorities for moving out and doing such event.
This month, we have also donated ₹10,000/- to NGO Bulbul Roy Foundation, who generally work in TATA Memorial Hospital (TMH) and help primarily the poor Bengali patients coming from Bengal, with proper treatment and also other needs like food & shelter. Our member Mr. Debesh Kumar Ghosh and his wife Manisha, who recently had to go to TMH for one deceased patient from Bengal, received her team's full help under lockdown situation and came to know about her activities.
However, we look forward to extending helping hands for more social causes as and when feasible.
