A visit to an Orphanage is a life-changing experience as it is filled with emotions and sentiments.
The moment you enter any orphanage, you tend to feel both happy and sad at the same time for obvious reasons. Happy because you could be of atleast some help to them; and, sad because so many more things need to he done for the poor orphans, who are deprived of parents' love & care and a promise of better quality of life.
As a part of NBC's Social Service Programme, yesterday we visited a registered orphanage of around 50 boys aged between 3 to 12, named Nandadeep Foundation at Kalyan. We carried basic provisions (about 120 kg) and handed over to the organisation. Ms Bhaswati & Mr Subrata Nag personally provided Choco Pie to all the children.
The children were very disciplined and our LW Committee members talked to them and made them sing & chant.
Having had info that there was no TV for the children's entertainment, Ms Monika & Mr Debashish Sarkar personally presented a new 32" Smart Android TV set to the organisation and arranged to install immediately.
The happy faces of the children made all of us happy too. We spent about an hour with them.
From there part of our team went to another Girls' orphanage at Waghbill, Thane, where around 40 children are there. Food packets were provided to them containing Veg pulav & Paneer prepared by Ms Sujan Mukherjee, and sweets sponsored by Ms Monika Sarkar, on behalf of NBC.
We thankful to Ms Joyetaa, a social worker, for giving us info of the orphanages and also accompanying us.
A day well spent by NBCians.
