On 23rd January 2021 morning, we paid tribute to our National Hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his 125th Birth Anniversary through a celebration at Netaji Subhash Chowk, Happy Valley, near Manpada.
The celebration was jointly organised by us along with other local Bengali club and another local organisation, with ardent support from local Corporator.
The celebration was graced by the honoured presence of many dignitaries including MLAs, DCPs, ACP, Sr PSs, Asst. Municipal Commissioner, and Corporator. Many members from both the clubs and local residents were also present to commemorate Netaji. Audio clipping of Netaji's lecture and the song 'Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja' were played in respect.
Presidents of both the Bengali clubs jointly felicitated the high profile dignitaries and gave a short speech on Netaji. Our Prez Mr Ashis Kumar Sarkar in his speech, made a request to the MLA to arrange to install a full-body statue of the beloved National Hero at the chowk, and name the Manpada Metro station in the name of Netaji Subhash Bose.
Other dignitaries were felicitated by the prominent office bearers of both the clubs including our Secretary Mr Tamajit Mukherjee and LW Prez Ms Mousumi Mukherjee. Ms Mousumi also anchored the programme partly.
The celebration ended with singing the National Anthem by all. Light refreshment was also served thereafter.
The entire event was a vibrant one and everybody was filled with pride and nationalistic feelings.
