This year, at the request of the members, our committee has taken some steps to facilitate the senior citizens to offer their puspanjali separately at a specific time. The time specifically designated for senior citizens for puspanjali on each day are mentioned below:
The time mentioned above have to be followed strictly otherwise it will be difficult for us to distribute Bhog on time.
All our members are requested to co-operate and to allow only our senior citizens to offer their prayers peacefully during that period.
Please note that apart from the Times mentioned above, senior citizens may offer their puspanjali along with others also but it is preferable that they come on the allotted slot so that our volunteers can give some special attention to them.
Bhog distribution was done in a systematic way and we want to thank the devotees for cooperating with us to maintain discipline during the whole process. In line with the theme of #NBCDurgotsav2018“Beat Plastic Pollution, Be Environment Firendly” we have used BIO DEGRADABLE plates and steel spoons. This has been highly appreciated by Jt Cp Thane Mr M Pandey. Local corporator Mrs Sneha Ambre joined in Bhog distribution on Navami.
Our Durga Puja 2018 ended yesterday with the immersion of Ma Durga. Hope the entire 5 day’s celebration was enjoyed by all. There might be some inadvertent errors for which we regret but on behalf of the committee we can assure you that our intentions were always good and we were trying to give maximum comfort to the devotees within our limitations.
If we retrospect, we may find many positives in this year’s Puja.
Firstly the venue - it’s really an achievement to create this space for the Puja Mandap, Cultural stage and also the stalls in the vicinity of the forest land without inviting any reaction from the Government authorities. Thanks to the team led by Secretary Tamajit Mukherjee for handling all the related issues and making it a place for worshipping Devi Durga which may be a step for our future plans.
This year in spite of all odds at the beginning about the place, we made it possible to organise without much usage of the road and the Cultural pandal as well as stall compound had got a complete different look. People enjoyed the ambience at the stalls and the stall hirer were also happy.
As per the feedbacks received so far, many of our plans after executions had been accepted by our members, well wishers and guests as those were executed by our members after a detailed discussions. The initiatives taken by Prabir Choudhury, Suman Dutta, Gautam Chatterjee, Ashis Sarkar and many others in forming the line for distribution of Bhog was appreciated by all. Thanks to the team.
The food department comprising of Sanjoy Dasgupta, Parthapratim Khan, Prabir Dam, Sanjiban Ghosh, Sital Mukherjee had given exemplary services during day time and also during evening. Evening distribution of Bhog was led by Parthapratim Khan and assisted by Prabir Dam and Tapan Moitra. The distribution of Bhog had to be planned properly because of the comparatively small place and it became really successful as the members came forward to execute it.
Our spot collections have got a shot in arm with the addition of Capt. Akhilesh Ghatak and in the first year itself he has created an impression by staying maximum hours in the counter. As per his assurance we have got a permanent person in spot collections. Tapan Moitra and Prabal Banerjee were helping him in collections.
The Q line management with chain was also a good idea for managing the line on the road and also in the pandal wherever necessary.
The best part of this year’s Puja was the re-entry of the Young Brigade of New Bengal Club. They not only gave continuous service in Bhog distribution but also led the immersion procession from the front. So the future of New Bengal Club is ready but we have to motivate them continuously so that they find reason to come to our Club in future.
This was the first time we planned for a special pushpanjali for senior citizens, and it was effective. The lighting of lamps during Sandhi Puja was planned differently and with the support of Ladies wing members, a few active members and with the co-operation of the devotees, it could be completed peacefully within the time.
The Akhand Pradeep, suggested by one of our members was introduced and we kept it lighted all the Puja days.
The Sindoor Utsab, the last item at the Puja Mandap was well managed by Prasenjit Bose, Shubir Acharjee, Biswajit Acharjee and Sudip Basu.
The immersion process was led by Atanu Bhattacharya and Prabir Choudhury. The lifting of idol from Puja Mandap and immersion with the help of Crane was a worth seeing activity.
Earlier I had mentioned about the contributions made by Ladies wing members. Since there are number of members who directly contributed to Collections, Cultural programme, Dhunuchi Dance, Puja management on stage & behind, etc. I am not taking any individual name here as the space here is insufficient. But I must mention the names of the leaders who lead the team. Gargi Dev and Mandira Chakraborty for 'Durga Durgatinashini' and Malabika Bose for Dhunuchi Dance. I must also congratulate the choreographers & voice artists of 'Durga Durgatinashini' for their praiseworthy performance. Ladies Wing officials also did a commendable job in managing different aspects of this mega event including a quite successful 'Anandamela'.
The Daily puja on Devi stage had active participation of Jyoti & Subhendu with logistic support from Nakul Dev.
Lastly, overall Cultural programmes were managed well by Debashis Sarkar and Jhuma Dutta with support from few others incuding Anup.
It goes without saying that many other members have contributed to the success through active involvement and I thank each of them sincerely.
Once again, thanks to all the members and well-wishers who made the this Puja a remarkable one by their presence and participations.

We started our Mega event of the year, Durga Puja 2018, by organising Anandomela- the Fun Fair. The event is totally organised by the Ladies Wing of the Club. It started from 4-30 pm sharp and was a grand success. Our Guest of Honour President Gold Medal Winnner (2018) Senior Police Inspector Mr Ganpat Pingle, inaugurated our Puja Mandap and Durga Puja 2018 at 4-30 pm and this was followed immediately by inauguration of Anandomela.
in house programme "Durga Durgatinashini" was an excellent programme and was enjoyed by each and every viewer. The participants took the programme to a much higher level. Our thanks to each and every participant and special thanks to Director Debashish Sarkar and music co-ordinator Gargi Dev.
Cultural Program will be followed by Dinner. Request all to enroll your name in the club office at Puja Mandap by paying Rs.200/- per member. Children below 6 exempted from paying any charges.
